Around The Fur is the second studio album for the Deftones, released in 1997 during the surge in Nu-metal‘s popularity. Even though the band did not like to be labelled as Nu-metal they found favour with many fans of the scene. The lead single ‘My Own Summer‘ also known as ‘Shove It‘ was the first Deftones track to break into the mainstream, hitting number 29 on the UK Singles Chart.

The track was also known for its dramatic video clip featuring the band standing on shark cages adrift in bloody water. Directed by Dean Karr this was an ambitious video for the time, utilising a large team with practical effects and even animatronic sharks.
