Cover shot – LIFE PILOT
Long running Adelaide five piece, Life Pilot have released the emotionally charged Mayflower as their latest single.
The band say that Mayflower ‘is a song written about a combination of polarising emotions, convening into an overwhelming moment of grief and sense of loss. For an ex-lover, for lost family members and for my unborn child. It’s about coming to terms with a present moment, of which you never planned for or imagined possible. Simultaneously mourning what was and what could have been while navigating an uncertain future.’

Life Pilot live at the Bendigo Hotel
Known for their brilliant videos, Life Pilot have delivered yet again. Combining Mayflower Part I and II, the music video encapsulates a sense of longing for those loved and left behind. Darting between chaotic performances starkly lit, raw and exposed, the band drew inspiration from the lyrical themes and dug back into their own history – uncovering old archival family footage to use as haunting imagery throughout the video. Paying homage to loved ones lost to time, their inclusion in this video serves as a reminder and showcase of those who shaped the members of Life Pilot into the people they are today.
All the while painting a visually stunning canvas to contrast against the wild and chaotic nature of the band.
Visually, Mayflower is the polar opposite of their last track, Nerve which featured an epic 15 minute video that is as funny as it is true.
Dodgy promoters, inane conversations and frustrating band mates. Watch The Nerve here and revisit the video for Feeding An Illness filmed in South Australia’s “Z Ward for the criminally insane”
