Lords of Chaos is based on the non-fiction book of the same name written by Michael Moynihan.
Directed by Jonas Åkerlund and written by Dennis Magnusson and Åkerlund. The story follows the black metal bands Mayhem and Burzum and the controversy that surrounded them in Norway during the 1990’s.
Starring Rory Culkin, Emory Cohen and Sky Ferreira this movie has divided audiences, not because of the content, but more the approach of having American actors portraying very specific Norwegian characters.
The argument is that if it was an authentic cast, it would not reach as wide of a audience as an Americanized english speaking cast.
There is merit to this commentary, yet when I watch the trailer I do feel that it lacks a certain authenticity.
That said, trailers do not always do movies justice and I look forward to seeing the movie in full.
