Opening up the night were Melbourne metalcore stalwarts, “Mirrors”, this band has really gone from strength to strength over the years, all the way back in the days of Bang! to playing mainstage at festivals across Australia. The band provided the energy that even some headline-level acts would be hard-pressed to beat. The set mostly consisted of songs from their killer new record “The Ego’s Weight” with some old fan favourites sprinkled in for good measure!

Hot damn… Where to begin with this; I knew going in that this was going to be something special, but “Loathe” hit the stage like a freight train of drop-tuned “Deftones” infused fury! In all my years of working in the industry and playing in bands myself, few acts could compare to this set. Highlights would have to be the straight-up insane breakdowns in set ender’s “Gored” and “White Hot” and Kadeem France’s vocals that went from guttural to soulful in the blink of an eye. After the response they received, it’s guaranteed that the next time this band is on our shores, they will be headlining!

There’s no better introduction to a set than “Welcome to the Sleeps Society”. Sheffield’s pride and joy While She Sleeps undeniably proves why they’ve been selling out shows for the better part of two decades. Vocalist, Loz Taylor, had the crowd in the palm of his hands from the moment he tore his way onto the stage, to when the tables turned and he dived into the sea of adoring fans in the front row. A moment of sheer rock’n’roll glory! Another mention has to be made of guitarist duo, Matt Welsh, and, Sean Long’s military precise fretwork, and vocal harmonies!

I implore you all to catch these three bands when they make their way to your city because, my God, are you in for a ride. A big thank you to “Destroy All Lines” and Dallas Does PR for allowing us access to this show!
