And so for the second night in row, I find myself at Max Watts, this time for the powerhouse that is CKY, and boy was I in for a treat
Opening the night was Atticus Chimps, a two-piece from QLD who set the mood, providing cool upbeat stoner rock that wouldn’t be out of place sharing the stage with the likes of the Stone Roses, Violent Soho or even Nirvana.
A fun set, tight with surprisingly full sound for a two-piece, they warmed the crowd up and set the tone for the fun that was to follow
Next up, we have the main event CKY flew the flag for big, raw, authentic, earth-shaking punk rock
Raucous, anarchic and soaked in the skate-punk culture that birthed them. They take no prisoners, take no shit, and everyone loved it, including them
Barely able to keep the grins from their faces, the dynamic trio churned out all their greatest hits while the crowd raised fists and answered every call before finally culminating in the song that had the whole venue heaving.
