I AM MOTHER is a sci-fi movie about a robot mother that raises a child to start the human race again after an extinction level event. The movie was produced on a conservative budget, yet needed to envelop the audience in this dystopian future. Its biggest strength is the mastery of Weta Workshop, the robot is extremely realistic, the movements are fluid and human-like, this is because the robot is a painstakingly crafted costume worn by Weta Producer and performer Luke Hawker. Luke has been with Weta Studios for 18 years and is a New Zealand native, making him an excellent candidate for the role.
