ORGY X COLD – Australian Tour

Cover shot – ORGY

Korn‘s Jonathan Davis was so excited by ORGY that he created his own record label in order to sign them and fund their debut album. Not to be outdone, Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst discovered a very young COLD and threw his considerable weight behind them.

Both Nu Metal giants’ intuitions were well vindicated when Orgy‘s groundbreaking and revolutionary Candyass and Cold’s incredible 13 Ways To Bleed and Year Of The Spider albums all became absolute classics of the era, going on to collectively sell five million copies worldwide and putting a few more Platinum and Gold records on the walls of Mr. Davis & Mr. Durst!

ORGY-PROMO
@orgyofficial

Led by charismatic front man Jay Gordon, Orgy earned a well-deserved reputation as one of alt-rock’s most forward-thinking and dynamic bands. With a sound defined by catchy hooks, powerful guitar riffs and throbbing electronic beats, Orgy have cultivated a devoted fanbase and remain a major force thanks to their electrifying live performances and irresistible intensity.

COLD-PROMO
@coldmusic

Cold achieved major success with the album 13 Ways To Bleed On Stage and the follow up album Year Of The Spider only picked up the pace spawning smash singles ‘Stupid Girl’ and ‘Suffocate’. They are renowned for their emotionally charged lyrics and deep connection with their fans, who are dubbed the “Cold Army’’.

The dynamic collaboration of the two highly influential bands will see them perform in Australia for the first time for three unforgettable shows.

GATECREEPER – Live at the Prince Bandroom Melbourne 2024

Words – Clare

Thursday night EM headed to the Prince Bandroom in St Kilda for the Gatecreeper tour with performances by Kruelty and World of Joy. As entertaining as the previous night was with Bring Me the Horizons sensory overload at John Cain Arena, I was definitely looking forward to being cloaked in darkness, obliterated by some dank and doomy death metal. What can I say? It just speaks to my goddamned soul.

As I ascended the stairs inside The Prince Hotel I heard the blasting death metal of Gutless who joined the tour as the local support for the Melbourne leg of the tour. Like a moth to a flame, I led myself straight to the front to cop a face full. Gutless received multiple shoutouts from the tour lineup. I spotted members of Kruelty watching from the sidelines, nodding in approval.

As World of Joy took the stage, the room filled with more bodies, but space was purposefully left on the floor for the psycho crowd killers. The five-piece hardcore band from Brisbane produced a massively entertaining set. The stage was open to all, two steppers taking turns, stepping up to launch themselves into the crowd. Fun was had by all.

By the time Kruelty came out the room was at full capacity, one mosher launched off the stage as Kruelty launched into a face melting set. Between the guttural growls, the vocalist addressed the mob of fans in his thick Japanese accent, ‘We are all the way here from Tokyo. Show us something crazy’. The chugginess and the proficiently curated tempo changes were particularly satisfying. ‘If you’re going more, you’re gonna be mad cunt. If you’re going less you’re gonna be a shit cunt’.

Gatecreeper, all the way from Phoenix Arizona, were headlining this tour and with the old-school metal vibes they were exuding it made sense they invited all the headbangers to the front ‘Headbangers…. Report for duty’ in order to close the gap that had previously been carved out for the hardcore kids. One beastly guitarist loomed over the crowd, death staring as he enjoined the fans to ignite a circle pit, before the entire band headbanged in unison. The pit erupted for Craving Flesh from 2016’s Sonoran Depravation and From the Ashes released in 2019 was dedicated to all the first-timers in the audience. After playing the track The Black Curtain, released just this year on the album of the same name, they performed Oblivion which has yet to be released online. Before finishing up the set Gatecreeper assured us they’ll be back again soon. Not hating that.

BRING ME THE HORIZON – Live in Melbourne 2024

Words – Clare

Due to a completely sold-out show at Rod Laver Arena, the Bring Me the Horizon Down Under Tour decided to add another night at the smaller John Cain Arena which was the first stop on the tour. Joining them were Daine, Make Them Suffer and Sleep Token.

The delightful Daine used her sickly sweet autotuned vocals to entertain the first concertgoers through the doors. The Gelfling-like girl performed a few singles including Doom, Cut My Heart Out and what I’m sure the crowd was hanging out for, Salt, which featured the Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes who joined Daine on stage for the duet.

Make Them Suffer energised the room with a tight set including Ghost of Me, the super heavy Hollowed Heart, Ether, where the crowd with outstretched arms swayed side to side, the live debut of Epitaph and Doomswitch which properly woke up the mosh pit.

Sleep Token graced the stage in Melbourne for their first live offering of 2024 adorned with their newest iteration of masks. The vessels moved with fluidity, like spirits haunting the stage. Their devoted following cheered through the set, euphoric over the first tracks The Offering and The Summoning where Vessel bowed down in worship to II during the drum solo. Vore ignited the crowd to peak veneration but before completion, the sleepy boys played Take Me Back To Eden which only recently had been added to their setlist.

Bring Me the Horizon set out to give their fans one of the best nights of their lives, and you have to hand it to them, they put on a phenomenal show that would entertain anyone, fan or not. Intricate stage effects exhilarated the audience incorporating fire machines, confetti cannons and CO2 jets that harmonised with the slew of hits throughout the monstrous set. We were welcomed into the performance by the animated avatar E.V.E that appeared on the massive digital displays to the sides of the stage. The comical video game graphics followed a narrative that led us through singles mainly from the 2020 album release Post Human: Survival Horror and their newly released album POST HUMAN: NeX GEn.

Stained glass church windows lit up the backdrop and platforms while confetti rained down on the arena as Bring Me the Horizon launched into DArkSide. We watched the progression of the church windows as they transformed from stormy weather to fiery flames during Empire (Let Them Sing), MANTRA, Teardrops and AmEn! until the winged and blood-splattered Project Angeldust from Kool-Aid smashed through the church walls before disintegrating, leaving the stage empty and cold. Snowflakes fell from the sky and smoke billowed from the platform, Oli stood alone, holding up a flare. The entire crowd fist-pumped along to Shadow Moses.

The whole night Oli sauntered back and forth working the stage hard, but he worked the crowd even harder, ‘I wanna see every single cunt here jumping. Off ya feet!’. Not that his adoring fans needed much instigation, all throughout the set crowd members could be heard shouting ‘I LOVE YOU OLI’ and the pit rarely rested as the moshers circled, jumped and surfed while singing along to every single track.

As the night progressed the performance became inexplicably more entertaining. Green strobes blanketed the darkness during Kingslayer, and for the acoustic track sTraNgeRs, members of the mosh were invited to find a set of shoulders to climb up on as the arena sparkled with the twinkling of fans torches. Before Parasite Eve, BMTH took it back a few years to their golden oldies with 2008’s Diamonds Aren’t Forever from Suicide Season to which Oli quipped ‘Thank god that’s over’. A lucky fan named Charlie from the front row was selected to join Oli on stage to sing Antivist with him, and to the delight of the crowd, Charlie killed it, giving Oli’s growls a run for their money. The crowd involvement continued with Drown where Oli stepped down into the pit with a selfie camera, filming himself hugging and singing alongside his ecstatic fans.

Can You Feel My Heart was dedicated to all the support bands on the tour ‘If you don’t jump you’re a certified knobhead’ hollered Oli and the room electrified as canons exploded multicoloured confetti over the tops of head-banging fans. The band encored with the tracks Doomed, LosT and Throne as everyone got up out of their seats and pushed up against the barriers. The night was a feast of visual effects and audible joy, I can’t even imagine what they have planned for lucky ticket holders of the main event at Rod Laver Arena. Enjoy!

BLACK RHENO – The “Who The F#ck is Black Rheno Tour” tour

Cover shot – BLACK RHENO

Sydney’s heavy groove merchants, Black Rheno, are gearing up for a massive East Coast tour this May with a lineup of killer support acts just announced. Black Rheno is currently riding high, having recently journeyed to Austin, Texas, to record a new album with heavyweight rock/metal producer “Machine the Producer” (known for his work with bands like Clutch, Every Time I Die, Lamb Of God and more). They also recently had the honour of supporting one of heavy metal’s most influential and iconic bands, PANTERA at Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Receiving rave reviews across the board from their excursion with Pantera, Black Rheno delivered an electrifying opening performance of the night, showcasing the high-octane live show they are renowned for. Later that evening, members of Black Rheno and King Parrot joined Pantera on stage, contributing gang vocals to the legendary tune “Walk.” It was a true celebration of the heavy grooves we have all grown up with and a unifying moment for fans, bands, and everyone involved.

While there is no official release date for the new Black Rheno record yet, anticipation is building. However, the band can’t wait and is eager to hit the road again after too long a hiatus between tours. Still energised from their monumental experience supporting Pantera, Black Rheno will be bringing their full-blown audio assault to venues across the East Coast this May. Fans can expect a sneak peek of new tunes from the upcoming record during these shows too.

The tour promises to be a series of epic heavy metal parties, with a lineup of support acts spanning various styles within the heavy music realm. From start to finish, this is going to be one wild tour, with intimate venues, killer lineups, and a reputation for insanity. These shows are set to be red hot, so securing tickets early is highly recommended.

MAKE THEM SUFFER – ‘Epitaphmake’ new track

Cover shot – MAKE THEM SUFFER

A potent fusion of the past, present and future, Perth metalcore outfit Make Them Suffer return today armed with a glossy yet blistering new single, Epitaph out now via Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records.

Continuing the band’s ferocious new sonic chapter, Epitaph swells with a sharp interplay between sharp primal energy and glowing ambience, also accompanied today by a brand new music video.

Of their latest single, the band shares: “Epitaph is the perfect grafting of new and old in terms of combining elements from our earlier sound with newer ones. Primal yet futuristic, Epitaph comes from a place of contemplation. The lyrics depict a post-doomsday setting and imagine how we as a species might be remembered by other forms of life.”

Following a long break away from music due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Make Them Suffer returned with a blazing bang in 2022, releasing the behemoth single Doomswitch, playing a sold out tour in North America supporting Bad Omens, and performing a completely sold out headline Australian run in support of their new material.

Releasing their first single via the dream team of Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records in 2023, the ravenous might of Ghost Of Me,  Make Them Suffer toured North America last year as part of Parkway Drive‘s huge Monsters Of Oz Tour, alongside The Amity Affliction and Northlane, as well as ticking off shows closer to home performing 2012’s Neverbloom in full for the first time ever in Australia to resounding acclaim.

Now, Make Them Suffer continue their domination in 2024, embarking this week with an almost entirely sold out Australian run supporting Bring Me The Horizon alongside Sleep Token and Daine, before returning overseas for a run of European and UK festivals this June, including Download Festival, Copenhell, Jera On Air and many more.

BMTH-TOUR-POSTER-UPDATED

“We’re about to settle in for the busiest year of touring in the history of Make Them Suffer and the energy in the band is at an all time high,” the band shares of their huge 2024 ahead. “I’m sure we’ll all be aching for more time at home by November, but for now, we can’t wait to get back on the road and play all these amazing tours and festivals we have lined up.”

“Epitaph is the beginning of a very exciting year for us, and not just in terms of touring. We’re so incredibly thankful for all our supporters, and to be in the position we’re in. Particularly after such an incredible journey. We can’t wait to show everyone what we have in store.

ALPHA WOLF – ‘Haunted’ new video

Cover shot – ALPHA WOLF

The wait is over, the staggering new era for Aussie metalcore behemoth’s cornucopia of heaving brutality brewed into sharply-honed moments of melodic brilliance, Half Living Things is a snapshot of everything fans know and love about Alpha Wolf on steroids. Whether unleashing gargantuan party-starters (Bring Back The Noise), neck-snapping breakdowns (Double-Edge Demise), raw, stomping hooks (Whenever You’re Ready) or an internet-breaking feature (Sucks 2 Suck Feat. Ice-T), Alpha Wolf harness and heighten their trademark intensity on album #3, crafting the self-produced Half Living Things entirely on their own terms.

Also levelling up today’s Alpha Wolf presence, the group have unveiled a brand new video for Haunter; a straight-up heavy masterpiece that balances its hooky chorus with full blown menace, both lyrically and instrumentally. Alpha Wolf has arrived with the hotly anticipated release of the band’s third studio album Half Living Things, officially out today via Greyscale Records and SharpTone Records.

Never ones to do anything by halves, Alpha Wolf have relentlessly sharpened their trademark intensity over the years, from releasing their critically acclaimed sophomore album A Quiet Place To Die amid the pandemic in 2020, snagging a #6 spot on the ARIA Charts and a nomination for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album at the ARIA Awards, to releasing a split EP, The Lost & The Longing, with Welsh rockers Holding Absence in 2022. And, as of 2024, the band now sit armed with the entirety of Half Living Things out in the world; a release guaranteed to catapult the Alpha Wolf legacy to even more dizzying heights.

Launching their own curated festival CVLTFEST in 2022, Alpha Wolf also continues to powerfully fly the flag for their own incredible wares as well as the local heavy music scene and exciting international acts, with CVLTFEST returning earlier this year for its second edition to critical acclaim, headlined by Alpha Wolf themselves alongside friends EmmureCrossfaithOcean Grove and many more.

Ticking off their biggest North American run to date with Motionless in White and tearing up multiple stages as part of the inaugural Knotfest Australia last year, Alpha Wolf kicked off 2024 touring nationally alongside The Amity Afflictionand are now set to embark next week on a massive North American headline run, supported by Emmure, UnityTX and Chamber, before heading to the UK to appear at Download Festival alongside Queens Of The Stone AgeFall Out BoyAvenged Sevenfold and more.

Alpha Wolf are also locked and loaded to whip Australia into a frenzy this August, headlining their Half Living Things Australian Tour alongside supports The Devil Wears Prada (USA), Invent Animate (USA) and thrown (SWE), with Melbourne’s first show as well as Sydney and Newcastle entirely sold out, new dates in Melbourne and Sydney added, and venue upgrades in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane due to overwhelming demand.

And before they trek off to North America next week, Alpha Wolf will also be performing an extra-special hometown show this weekend to celebrate the release of Half Living Things, with the Half Living Things Live At Revs show taking place this Saturday 6 April at Revovler Bandroom in Prahran. Supported by SIGNV/S, this is strictly a walk-ups-only event. The event is either $40 entry or $50 entry, with the latter including a clear with red and black splatter Half Living Things vinyl. Doors open at 6pm for what is guaranteed to be a once-in-a-lifetime Alpha Wolf Aussie show.
