After VANISH presented the first single “Crowdpiercer” from their new work “A Hint Of Solace” few weeks ago, the second track from the album “Voyage In Suffering” now follows. The Stuttgart modern power metallers will release their fourth album on March 31st, 2023 via EL PUERTO RECORDS. The concept for the accompanying video came from singer Bastian Rose, who also realized the clip.
Classic metal trademarks combined with innovative elements create a strong new modern power metal sound. The current album “A Hint Of Solace” also provides comfort in difficult times with its eight songs: anthemic refrains, riffs full of power rounded off in a modern sound robe.
In recent years, VANISH has rocked numerous club gigs, festivals and tours and could score points as support for well-known names like Queensryche, Michael Schenker, Rage, Ross the Boss, Brainstorm, Battle Beast, Mystic Prophecy, Axxis, Kissin’ Dynamite, Soilwork and many more.

Platinum-selling San Diego powerhouse PIERCE THE VEIL and Gold-certified, Columbus Ohio rockers BEARTOOTH are teaming up for a huge double header and will be hitting Australian shores this July with special guests, Southern California quartet DAYSEEKER.
PIERCE THE VEIL have become iconic in their genre and their return has been fiercely welcomed. The band Rolling Stone once described as “hyperactive, progressive post-hardcore,” have just released album number five, The Jaws of Life, which debuted at #8 on the ARIA album chart, their highest Australian chart entry.
They’ve also debuted atop Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums, Alternative Albums, and Hard Rock Albums charts twice – first with Collide With the Sky (2012) and its follow-up, Misadventures (2016). A decade after its release, the already platinum King for a Day shot to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hard Rock Streaming chart, driven by the viral #KingForADay hashtag on TikTok. Even with two gold singles and a gold album, this coming year could be their biggest yet.
PIERCE THE VEIL perform at the biggest festivals and is counted among the biggest and brightest of a younger generation of bands. But it all starts with the songs. The Jaws of Life is filled with the kind to keep the PTV fire burning forever.
Forbes declared BEARTOOTH as “inching towards a tipping point of becoming the latest arena headliner” and Rolling Stone introduced BEARTOOTH as one of 10 New Artists You Need To Know.
Their marriage of colossally catchy choruses and post-hardcore-soaked-in-sweaty-metal is without rival. Its effect is evident by their deeply engaged audience; tours with Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, and A Day To Remember; and an RIAA-certified gold plaque.
Songs like The Past is Dead, Fed Up, and In Between have pushed BEARTOOTH past 850 million streams. The band’s fourth album, Below, topped the Rock, Hard Music, and Alternative charts in 2021 and found its way into Best Rock/Metal Albums of the Year lists assembled by the likes of Revolver, Rock Sound, Kerrang!,Loudwire, Knotfest, and a slew of like-minded media outlets. The band also graced it first Revolver cover in Summer 2021.
DAYSEEKER embody what a rock band can be in the 21st century. Tallying hundreds of millions of streams, selling out shows, and earning acclaim from the likes of Alternative Press and more, the band crystallize this outlier vision on their 2022 fifth full-length offering, Dark Sun.
Don’t miss this huge double header! Tickets won’t last long.

PIERCE THE VEIL & BEARTOOTH AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2023 WITH SPECIAL GUESTS DAYSEEKER
SATURDAY 22 JULY – METROPOLIS, FREMANTLE MONDAY 24 JULY – THE GOV, ADELAIDE WEDNESDAY 26 JULY – THE FORUM, MELBOURNE THURSDAY 27 JULY – ENMORE THEATRE, SYDNEY SATURDAY 29 JULY – FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL, BRISBANE
A lot has happened in the 6 years since Alexisonfire last visited Australia. Beards, long hair, a few sporadic singles, more side projects, and finally a new album in 2022. A constant in that time however has been their loyal fanbase. This is the longest we’ve ever had to wait for the band to return, and with the initial Melbourne show selling out and spawning a second show, it’s evident the fans haven’t gone anywhere. Night #1 is upon us and we descend on the Forum Theatre, arguably one Melbourne’s most beloved venues. Let’s do this!
With a cosy lineup of just two bands, Tasmania’s Luca Brasi hit the stage to an already two thirds full venue, a great thing to see. Kicking things off with Dying To Feel Alive, the band rip through 30 minutes of emo and pop punk tinged rock, with a distinct Aussie sound to it. Energy is high throughout the set as the band cut and weave through the more recent half of their discography (3 outta 5 ain’t bad) with Aeroplane, Let It Slip and Anything Neear Conviction being a few highlights. The band makes sure to also show off their latest single from late last year, Party Scene.
A tight set from the whole band, singer Tyler Richardson doesn’t hold back, giving off a great energy and letting the crowd know when it’s their turn to match it with singalongs and “whoa oh oh’s” aplenty. Clearly lots of Luca Brasi fans in the crowd, and as Clothes I Slept In draws the set to a close, I’d say we’re now all perfectly warmed up.
After filing onto stage in a very orderly fashion Alexisonfire quickly flick the switch, launching into Accidents, and the chaos begins. Bassist Chris Steele is a wild beast, pulling the faces of a madman and executing dance moves to match. Frontman George Pettit is ferocious and commanding as he thrashes his way around the stage, his growl could cut through concrete.
Absolutely electric energy, it’s such a pleasure and a treat to witness the triple vocal threat of George and guitarists Dallas Green and Wade MacNeil, shining through especially on Old Crows and Sans Soleil, a clear crowd favourite. Dallas has the voice of an angel and Wade’s trademark rasp add’s an extra sexy dimension. It’s hard to appreciate some of the nuances on the recordings of a track like the latter, but getting to see those vocal harmonies brought to life in front of us and not only hearing but seeing George’s softer range shine, is nothing short of spine tingling.
As the saying goes, “give the drummer some,” and Jordan Hastings deserves a lot of love, an exceptional talent behind the skins, ebbing and flowing and unwavering throughout the entire set. A new and welcome addition is touring member Matt Kelly who brings the sporadic keys sections to life, most notably on Rough Hands and The Northern, both receiving extended intros which are a beautiful touch.
Just as they did with their latest album Otherness, Alexisonfire have really stepped up their live show with an extra level of atmosphere. Banter between songs is kept to a minimum and spread out, opting to bridge songs together with moody sounds. They may not talk much, but George remains animated between songs, mouthing and gesturing at the crowd letting us know he’s having a blast.
An impressive setlist, with an even spread between the latest four albums, we’re thrown a few extra little surprises in the self-titled album’s Adelleda, rogue single Familiar Drugs, and another fan favourite, Dog’s Blood from the EP of the same name. Once again, the band brings the energy and atmosphere to new heights with this track and as if Dallas’ hauntingly beautiful vocals in the bridge don’t already build up the suspense enough, George yelling at the crowd to “fuck this place up!” just as the rest of the band crashes back into full swing, tips us over the edge. What an electric moment!
The electricity continues to flow through as another extended intro, this time from Jordan on the drums, takes us into This Could Be Anywhere In The World. The crowd knows their time is drawing near with George egging us on: “You know it! Wanna hear it!”. The crowd delivers, singing so loudly that Dallas needn’t have even sung his parts, but we’re glad he did anyway. As the final guitars ring out we still want more, and we’re thankfully treated to an encore of Young Cardinals and Happiness By The Kilowatt, bringing an amazing hour and a half long set to a final close in beautiful fashion.
It’s crazy to think I’ve been listening to these guys for nearly 20 years, and they somehow manage to get better and better at every turn, both on and off the stage. A truly next level performance. See you at show #2!
Icelandic blackened death metal band Úlfúð has launched a video for the song “Leviathan Dreams,” the second single off their full-length debut, Of Existential Distortion.
VocalistBreki Danielsen Imsland comments on the track, “‘Leviathan Dreams’ is the closing track on the album, a harrowing journey through disjointed visions of a nightmarish soundscape, ending the auditory sojourn on a dark note.”
Bred in the land of ice and fire, Úlfúð are the latest addition to Dark Descent’s flawless, ever-diversifying roster. Championing their personal blend of black and death metal (with emphasis on the former), the band’s debut album Of Existential Distortion uniquely captures the desolate vastness of the volcanic wastelands like only Icelanders can.
Úlfúð’s first full-length is a masterclass in songcraft, showcasing a stunning balance of entrancing atmosphere, haunting melody, and deathless violence. Artist Bahrull Marta was summoned to conjure the breathtaking artwork, whilst photographs by Alma Líf Þorsteinsdóttir adorn the inlay with visions of each offering.
Of Existential Distortion tracklist:
1. Where Strange Lights Dance
2. Tears of Terra
3. Mockery Theatre
4. Faceless
5. Gods Left Behind
6. Questions
7. An Elegy to a Paradise Out of Reach
8. Leviathan Dreams
About Úlfúð
Úlfúð’s (pronounced “ool-wooth”, meaning animosity or hostility) were formed in early 2015 in Reykjavik, Iceland. The band self-released debut EP First Sermon in 2018 and recorded debut Of Existential Distortion in 2020. A release truly worth waiting for!
Cannibal Culture is the new single from Australian blackened sludge veterans Lo!‘s forthcoming albumThe Gleanersout April 7 via Pelagic Records. Hailing the band as “one of the best post/sludge/whatever bands out there right now”, the video was premiered on Heavy Blog Is Heavy.
Directed by Lo! bass player Adrian Shapiro, we awake to a grim representation of modern man, the contemptuous clown of capitalism. Applying his “human” face to greet the world. “I wanted it to be an uncomfortable film to watch, and I think the emotionless nature of our monster really drives that disgust home” says Adrian Shapiro.
“The album’s introduction of the Caucasian vulture, this track is a hatefully vile anthem on the mass exploitation, appropriation and dilution of other cultures committed by non people of colour often naively or without thought to the devastating and intergenerational effects.” says vocalist, Sam Dillon
Lo! herald the end of the existing order of things, executing crushing judgement upon those tyrants who put the poor to powder.
On The Gleaners Lo! firmly continue in the vein of their much-lauded third album, setting an over-arching storyline with multiple characters to a symphony of sonic death and destruction. “Vestigial opened up the writing arena for Lo! in many ways,” explains guitarist and main-songwriter Carl Whitbread about the predecessor of The Gleaners. “We created an album of anthems without losing the groove or viciousness of performing live, using defined characters and themes that are revisited and interwoven across the record, while also experimenting with atmospheric and cinematic samples to breathe life into the recording.”
From afar, The Gleaners would seem like a fair breeding ground for conspiracists, and it does make a grander scheme of things seem plausible, both for sceptics as well as free thinkers. However, don’t be deceived! At the base of The Gleaners lies a hardcore search for freedom and truth that leaves nothing to the imagination. From the one-two punch of album opener Our Fouling Larder and Salting the Earth to the d-beat destruction of Rat King and the massive culmination of Cannibal Culture, Lo! leave you little opportunity to catch your breath. Even the more atmospheric tracks like Pareidolia or the title track feel crushingly heavy not despite but because of their slower pace. Above all, this record is nothing but a frm rattling of your cage – and who could expect something else from the minds of this Australian quartet who have been churning out nothing but stellar sludgy blackened hardcore over the past twelve years? Like a Hieronymus Bosch painting, the storyline of The Gleaners has little of a focal point, the characters crawl all over the place – its chaos is complete – but somehow its impact is phenomenal. Lo! have gone and done it again, creating a terrifying vision of the infernal madness of our reality that shakes you to your core!
LO! ARE: Carl Whitbread (guitar) | Sam Dillon (vocals) Adrian Griffin (drums) | Adrian Shapiro (bass, backing vocals)
THE GLEANERS TRACK LISTING:
01. Our Fouling Larder 02. Salting the Earth 03. Deafening Bleats of Apathy 04. Rat King 05. The Gleaners 06. Pareidolia 07. Kleptoparasite 08. Cannibal Culture 09. Mammons Horn
In the wake of the past few crazy years that grounded gigs and so many other things to a complete halt, it now feels like the floodgates are well and truly open, with no end of amazing gigs in sight. A Bad Religion tour is always lapped up in its own right, but then throw in another legendary act in Social Distortion and this co-headline tour has had the masses salivating in anticipation.
First up are Melbourne’s own Clowns who waste no time in smashing through their 20 minute set. Frontman Stevie Williams is a hyperactive ball of energy, as always bounding around the stage, fists flying and hyping up the gradually expanding crowd. A blistering, tight set from start to finish shows why this band keeps going from strength to strength and continues to be one of our best punk rock exports.
Mid set amidst some quick banter, Stevie takes a moment to share his opinion of the arena being named after an outwardly anti-LGBTQI+ figure, middle fingers high in the air he yells out, “fuck Margaret Court!”, receiving mixed responses from the crowd. I personally love to see the current generations using their platforms to stand up for the issues they believe in and ruffle feathers in the name of justice. Punks gonna punk.
After a short intermission we’re greeted by Bad Religion who go from casual strut to overdrive in a blink of an eye. Greg Graffin effortlessly holds the crowd’s attention, the arena now significantly more full, and doesn’t miss a beat for the duration of the hour plus set. Facial expressions aplenty, arms waving in every direction and some cheeky banter thrown in for good measure, these guys are a pure joy to watch. It’s clear they still enjoy themselves as much as they ever have in their tenure, as they treat us to a very eclectic set. Some long time fan favourites American Jesus, Generator and 21st Century (Digital Boy) make welcome appearances, alongside some unexpected treats Come Join Us, The Streets Of America, and even set opener Too Much To Ask.
They really hit every mark, but also showing they can wing when someone from the crowd dubbed “the loudest person in the room” yells out a request to play We’re Only Gonna Die. Graffin thanks the crowd member for the reminder as they forgot to include it in the set at which point bassist, and evident set curator Jay Bentley, retorts that he “didn’t forget to include it… I didn’t include it!” Dead set on having a good time, Jay’s wit is matched only by his endless energy, unable to stand still for more than a second during any song. Guitarists Brian Baker and Mike Dimkich are a formidable duo who just radiate cool with every note and stride, and one would be hard pressed to find many drummers as intense as the band’s unwavering metronome in Jamie Miller. Yeah, I’m a fanboy, and a fucking satisfied one at that!
Tonight’s headliner, Social Distortion, are finally back for what may only be there second Australian visit (forgive me if I’m wrong here) so anticipation is high. As the lights dim, classic blues song Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters starts playing over the PA and the band gradually appear through the fog. Opening with So Far Away, the band have a cool energy and play with tight precision. Singer Mike ness has an alluring broodiness to him as he prowls the stage.
Throughout the set we get a good mix from their discography including a few new songs from an album due hopefully this year, classics Reach For The Sky, Don’t Drag Me Down, and of course Story Of My Life, which appears in the middle of the encore. We’re also treated to a few cover songs, namely Chris Isaacs’ Wicked Game and Johnny Cash’s Ring Of Fire, which closes out the night.
We can tell the band is having a good time and we get a little bit of banter from Ness here and there, but legend tells of a fired up, fork-tongued Mike Ness and tonight, he was a little mellow. A fun set, full of nostalgia and high hopes for future plans, but just a little bit overshadowed by the previous bands.
All in all, a great night of punk rock, good vibes, and a healthy dose of sass. Ain’t that what life’s all about?
A special thanks to Dave at Diamond Creative Services and the crew at Margaret Court Arena for having us.

About SLIPKNOT: There was never a band like Slipknot, and there will never be another. Like a spore out of the Midwest, they’ve quietly bloomed into the most uncompromising, undeniable, and unique presence on the planet whose influence transcends genres and generations. Since sowing the seeds for revolution in Iowa during 1999, these musical outliers have captured a GRAMMY Award alongside 10 nominations, scored 12 Platinum / 41 Gold album certifications around the world, and logged over 8.5 billion global streams and 3.5 billion video views to date – unprecedented for a rock act in this generation or any other. Rolling Stone cited the seminal platinum-selling 2001 album Iowa among “The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time,” while The Ringer attested, “They’re the most important heavy band of their era.” In addition to marking the group’s third consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200, their sixth full-length album, WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND, bowed at #1 in twelve countries worldwide in 2019. Selling out shows on multiple continents, they deliver an irreplicable multi-sensory experience on tour and through their own festival Knotfest. With their seventh studio album, THE END, SO FAR, Slipknot are back, and nothing will be the same again.
About KNOTFEST: Knotfest is Slipknot’s own self-curated, destination festival brand, currently held in eight international locations; the US, Japan, Mexico, Finland, Germany, Colombia, Chile and Brazil. Designed as an immersive, unforgettable, ‘dark carnival experience’, the event invites you into Slipknot’s apocalyptic underworld where stunning visuals, fire breathers and nightmarish creatures on stilts set the stage for an intoxicating and memorable weekend of live music.
With fan worship more intense than ever, and worldwide interest and intrigue growing at runaway speed, Sleep Token are set to reach bold new heights with studio album Number Three, Take Me Back To Eden, set for release on May 19 via Spinefarm.
Take Me Back To Eden (an hour-plus of music across 12 distinctive tracks) is Part 3 of a trilogy, a spectacular chapter-closer in the ongoing Sleep Token saga – a saga that kicked off in earnest with debut album, Sundowning (2019).
…Eden features probably the heaviest moments thus far recorded by Sleep Token (i.e. Vore & The Summoning), along with some of the most immediate and certainly the most emotional (i.e. Aqua Regia & DYWTYLM), with a slew of other tones, textures and tangents touched on in-between.
TMBTEsees Sleep Token boldly re-confirming a true love of the epic (the title track is eight minutes plus), whilst further exploring and developing those elements that keep the music removed from any kind of pack, howling at a moon that’s all its own.
Meanwhile, standout single, The Summoning, has already generated some 16.5 million streams globally, causing the track to trend on Twitter and take the #1 song spot on a host of international Spotify viral charts, as well as being selected as a ‘YouTube Trending Artist On The Rise’, featuring on YouTube‘s home page, viewed by millions of people every day.
The unprecedented accolades keep rolling in, between the fact that ST has never played a headline show in the UK that didn’t sell out, Aqua Regia picking up airplay on the Radio One ‘Future Sounds’ show hosted by Clara Amfo, plus huge popstar Demi Lovato sharing Sleep Token‘s music with her 148 million Instagram followers, Sleep Token consistently smash boundaries that they refused to acknowledge in the first place.
And even though Sleep Token notoriously do not speak to the press (out of necessity, not ego or gimmick), media can’t help but write about the phenomenon, reporting on the band’s every move; NME note, “Sleep Token offer their fans an entire world to immerse themselves in if they so wish. It’s a place of escapism, and the foundation of a huge fan community that’s dedicated to studying the band’s creativity. While they have the same fervour as any other fandom, there’s still a notable difference.” Whilst Metal Hammer called them “the most exciting band in metal right now.”
Sleep Token‘s first Australian headline tour in April and May is sold out.
TAKE ME BACK TO EDEN TRACK LISTING: 01 Chokehold 02 The Summoning 03 Granite 04 Aqua Regia 05 Vore 06 Ascensionism 07 Are You Really Okay? 08 The Apparition 09 DYWTYLM 10 Rain 11 Take Me Back To Eden 12 Euclid
Pre-orders are now available across various formats, including 4 stunning limited vinyl pressings, exclusive cassettes and other merch items such as t-shirts, long-sleeves and hoodies.
The lights are equally bright away from the city, and Melbourne Oddworld heroes Ocean Grove are set to bring their luminous live show on an 11-date regional East Coast tour this April. Kicking off their BORED OF THE CITY East Coast tour in Newcastle on Wednesday 12 April, the OG trio will then head to Penrith, Wollongong, Canberra, Albury, Bendigo, Geelong, Belgrave, Frankston and the Gold Coast, before closing out Friday 28 April on the Sunshine Coast. Also joining the fun will be Melbourne punk lords Deez Nuts and Sydney emo rockers Bloom.
Armed with their latest full-length album, 2022’s Up In The Air Forever, Ocean Grove have been recently tearing up stages and airwaves with more ferocity than ever before. Fusing 90s alternative rock with grunge, punk, Brit Pop and sprinklings of hook-ready pop, Up In The Air Forever firmly showcased the diversity and rattling technicality underpinning the Ocean Grove sonic world, while also nodding at times to their much heavier roots. In 2022 alone, the trio performed at Unify Forever, Monolith Festival and Good Things Festival, with headline appearances and a special Christmas show also solidifying a mammoth 12 months in OG land. And while Aussie fans may have to wait until April to catch Ocean Grove back in action on stages in 2023, the group are set to join beloved Brit rockers Don Broco and American post-hardcore icons Sleeping With Sirens on the road in Europe this March.
“We cut our teeth on regional tours around Australia back when OG was starting out,” shares Ocean Grove vocalist Dale Tanner. “Hopping in a van (or in our case – my ute) and taking to the highways led us to some of the most outrageous and memorable times of our career and lives. It’s been well over six years since putting together a regional headline tour of our own and we are so psyched to finally return to so many great parts of the country and revive this energy that defined the early years of the band. There’s nothing quite like performing in far-flung places away from the major cities – the rarity of the occasion creates something pretty special. No-one in the room takes the moment for granted, including the band, and you feel proud to be part of something bigger, a community that just needed its chance to shine. They’ve been asking for it, so here we f**king go!”
Hailing from Melbourne, hardcore punks Deez Nuts deal in thick riffs, ballistic energy and hooky, hip hop hues, stemming from the disbandment of metalcore legends I Killed The Prom Queen and helmed by JJ Peters. Having previously toured with The Ghost Inside, Kublai Khan, Stick To Your Guns, Lorna Shore, as well as some of the world’s biggest festivals, Deez Nuts are consistently classed as a force to be reckoned with onstage – and they certainly never skimp on bringing a party vibe to live proceedings.
A melodic hardcore quintet straight outta Sydney, Bloom merge melodic and ferocious instrumentation alongside emphatic lyricism. Emerging in 2017, the band endeavour to convey deep emotion alongside irresistible hooks and singalong-ready choruses; a fact that is significantly amplified anytime they set foot on a stage. Touring in 2022 alongside Void Of Vision and Holding Absence, Bloom also appeared at Unify Forever the same year, and are now primed to take 2023 by the musical horns.
Tired of being bored, or just want to witness some of the country’s finest when they roll through a town near you? Avoid the FOMO and definitely don’t miss the BORED OF THE CITY tour this April.
As diverse and as electrifying as their name, ELECTRIC CALLBOY is thrilled to announce they will be returning to Australia for their first headlining tour as part of their TEKKNO world tour this November.
“Australia! After playing the sold-out club shows and the amazing shows at the Good Things Festival at the end of 2022, we are so happy to come back to Australia as soon as possible. We will be playing five shows at the end of 2023, expanding our TEKKNO WORLD TOUR to down under! ” – Electric Callboy
Hailing from Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, ELECTRIC CALLBOY has been causing noise around the globe. Welding modern trap with alt rock, pop punk and beyond into an exhilarating musical experience, their genre-defiant critically acclaimed latest release TEKKNO debuted at #1 on the German album charts.
Single, Hypa Hypa, has reached over 60 million plays and over 29 million views on YouTube in record time, with the track becoming the band’s biggest success story so far. The two following singles We Got The Moves and Pump It, featured on the new album TEKKNO, are also the talk of the world with their spectacularly hilarious videos with the band’s Youtube channel now topping over 200 million views and counting. Tracks Pump It and Spaceman both charted in the Top 35, putting them in the list of the most successful singles by a German metal band. Pump It also prevailed internationally at the Heavy Music Awards, edging out acts such as Bring Me The Horizon.
Known for their shrill party attitude and ecstatic live shows which Aussies witnessed at the band’s first Australian appearance at Good Things Festival in 2022, the German collective are at their party-starting best.
