Cover shot CRADLE OF FILTH
Released in 1998, Cruelty and the Beast was a showcase of brutality and macabre romanticism that became the signature of CRADLE OF FILTH. The album was a concept based on the life of Hungarian Countess and mass murderer Elizabeth Bathory who tortured and murdered hundreds of young women in the 16th and 17th centuries. In addition to the extreme metal sound, the album featured three instrumental tracks filled with the haunting sounds of an orchestra overlayed with horrifying screams, adding to the brutality of the concept. CRADLE OF FILTH developed a global cult following and quickly became a mainstay of the extreme metal and goth scenes.
To celebrate this momentous release of Cruelty and the Beast, CRADLE OF FILTH are touring Australia and New Zealand playing the album in full. This is a once in a lifetime chance for fans to see this spectacle live.
