Metallica have cancelled the Australian leg of their world tour with Slipknot. The band released an official statement revealing that James Hetfield has been admitted to rehab to deal with his ongoing substance abuse issues:

“As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again. We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.”

Promoters Live Nation have confirmed that all tickets will be refunded and they are working with both Metallica and Slipnot to organize an Australian tour for the future.

For more info on refunds, head to Live Nations official website and keep up to date with Metallica on their official site here.
