MAKE THEM SUFFER – ‘Soul Decay’

Cover shot – MAKE THEM SUFFER

Perth’s MAKE THEM SUFFER have released the latest single ‘Soul Decay‘ from their highly anticipated fourth studio album How To Survive A Funeral.

“Soul Decay is about watching someone deteriorate in front of you, many struggle to recognise that a recurring pattern of failure or disappointment is their often own doing. To bear the blame of your own mistakes is something that’s difficult for most people. The lyric, ‘You built yourself this prison. Tear it down, burn it to the fucking ground’ is a call to action to rise above and accept your part.”Sean Harmanis

Presented by Rise Records & Greyscale Records “How to Survive a Funeral” out July 24th you can get your pre-orders here, you can check out the new track below and stay up to date with MAKE THEM SUFFER on social media.

NORTHLANE – ‘Enemy Of The Night’

Cover shot – NORTHLANE

Northlane‘s fifth studio album Alien was their boldest and most personal release yet. The creativity of Alien had fans and critics raving, racking up over 30 million streams, prompting sold-out shows worldwide.

Northlane have revealed their new track  ‘Enemy Of The Night’ that will be accompanied by a limited-edition deluxe version of Alien

“‘Enemy Of The Night’ was the last song to be completed and is personally my favourite song from the Alien sessions. It has a similar, storytelling style to ‘Freefall’ as it recounts memories and experiences from my childhood of my father falling deeper into addiction and the desperate things people will do to satisfy those needs. Despite his best efforts, he was never able to beat his demons. This song is the missing piece to the Alien puzzle and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.” – vocalist Marcus Bridge

Alien Deluxe is due for release on Friday July 31 and will feature 2x neon pink LPs including the original version of the album, a full instrumental version and new track ‘Enemy Of The Night’. Pre-orders are available now via UNFD store.

BAD JUJU – ‘Disappoint’

Cover Shot – BAD JUJU
Words – Nate Morolli

Bad Juju is back with their latest release ‘Disappoint’, which is the second track released since their EP. It is a powerful addition to the bands growing catalogue and is hopefully an indication of what fans can expect from these guys in the near future. The single addresses the guilt one can feel when losing someone close to mental illness – a concept that is becoming all too familiar in today’s society.

Whether or not one can relate to the subject matter, the grief and helplessness expressed through this track emanates into the heart of the listener. The lyrical content of this song, without saying too much, has captured key moments in the mind state one experiences following the loss of a dear friend and has obviously been written from experience.

The most interesting thing about the track is that it takes this painful energy and uses it as a force for something positive, ‘I don’t want to disappoint you’, this line lays in the hook. The statement is about honouring the memory of the lost and continuing a journey that they would approve of and even admire. Accompanied by creative drum patterns especially in the chorus and right up through the outro, the message in this track is one that pulls at the heartstrings and at the same time enriches what can be taken from loss and grief. When Bad Juju does hit the stage again, this one will definitely become the sort of anthem that is sung by a crowd in unison.

JINJER – ‘Noah’ video

Cover shot – JINJER

JINJER are an absolute touring powerhouse, yet with the majority of the world in lockdown, they had to cancel a huge run of shows they had planned for 2020. Not letting this slow them down, Jinjer have dropped their latest video for ‘Noah‘ taken from their latest record MACRO.

“Tatiana wrote Noah from the point of view of what if he did not succeed in perpetuating Life on Earth? Looks like we might find out sooner than we think! Times are scarier, tougher and stranger than ever. Our/your livelihood and everything we know and cherish are on the verge being swept away by a storm like nothing we’ve faced before. Will we have our own modern day Ark? Will we manage to jump on board in time or has it already set sail? What will be left over after it‘s all said and done? These questions are torturing all of us right now and the future is disturbingly uncertain. But we will survive and will get through this, like we did during so many dark times before. Together. Strong and revitalized with a much better understanding of what we are”

AGNES MANNERS – ‘As Long As You’re Mine’

Cover shot – Agnes Manners

As Long as You’re Mine is the debut single from Agnes Manners, a solo project by ex-Hellions guitarist Matthew Gravolin. The track features Dream States lead vocalist, Charlotte Gilpin.

As long as you’re mine is a drastic contrast from what you might expect from the likes of these two, but nevertheless a beautiful track. Consisting of only a few elements, the track creates a relaxed atmosphere in which the listener can lose themselves, both in the heartfelt lyrics and melody. Creative use of synths adds a unique element to this piece, with the addition of a saxophone appearing intermittently it allows the listener to enjoy what may not be a part of their usual listening experience. Gravolins voice is well suited to a story-telling style such as this and is enriched when harmonised with Gilpin.

THE GHOST INSIDE – ‘Pressure Point’

Cover shot – THE GHOST INSIDE

THE GHOST INSIDE have released the second track ‘Pressure Point‘ from their upcoming self-titled record. The track focuses on the types of exploitative acquaintances who are quick to make someone else’s tragedy about themselves,

“Almost all TGI songs take the listener on a journey from dark to light or from despair to hope,” explains bassist Jim Riley. “On this record we made a conscious effort to let individual songs explore different emotions we’ve been experiencing and not force them to have a positive turn. We feel like the album as a whole will give you that hopeful feeling, even though a song like ‘Pressure Point; might not do that by itself. Instead we embraced being pissed off and let it pour out through some of the most aggressive and pointed lyrics we’ve ever had. We try to avoid cursing in our songs but sometimes you’re just so fed up that nothing less than a big loud fuck will get the job done.”

THE GHOST INSIDE‘s self-titled record is due out June 5th via Epita Records,
